As we have discussed on several occasions, there is a revolution occurring on the demand side in natural gas. No fewer than five major advances are hitting that will ramp up the requirements for this fuel source.
It's a development every investor should know about because it pushes new names on to the list of today's best investments in natural gas.
What's more, the impact this revolution will have on additional North American production will be far reaching. That's a good thing, since we have far more unconventional reserves than initially estimated. In fact, this new demand is already being felt, providing a floor for ramping up drilling even further.
Four of these sources of new demand are domestic: the transition from coal to gas as a fuel of choice in the generation of electricity, rising use of gas as a feeder stock for petrochemicals, increasing industrial applications, and an accelerated expansion of natural gas as a vehicle fuel, especially in truck and transit fleets. There are even moves to use natural gas as a fuel in railway traffic.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Magic Diligence]
Given this fact, and the fact that consumer electronics (CE) is a cyclical industry, flash supply and demand balance is very tenuous. Frantic production to catch up to demand often leads to dramatic over-supply when the CE market cools off. One needs only to look at SanDisk's financials to see this. The company swung from a $917 dollar operations loss in 2008 to a $1.5 billion dollar profit in 2011, and which was then cut in half to just a $700 million profit the following year!

Celanese (NYSE: CE) is estimated to report its Q3 earnings at $1.04 per share on revenue of $1.59 billion.

Shares of DuPont (NYSE: DD ) fell slightly more than 1% today despite a favorable Supreme Court ruling earlier in the day. The court ruled that farmers can't use later-generation seeds or previously genetically engineered seeds without paying the owners of the patented product. While DuPont wasn't directly involved in the case, Monsanto (NYSE: MON ) a DuPont competitor and a seed developer with which DuPont has licensing deals, was the plaintiff in the case. The high court ruled in favor of Monsanto, which sued a farmer for using second- and third-generation seeds that came from plants grown from first-generation genetically engineered Monsanto soybean seeds. Today's ruling will sustain the business model of both Monsanto and DuPont when it comes to their seed technology units.

Shares of chemicals maker DuPont (NYSE: DD ) delivered strong gains for shareholders, rising 5.3% after Trian Fund Management's Nelson Peltz disclosed that he'd amassed a "big stake" in DuPont, according to CNBC. If the name sounds familiar, that'd be because Peltz also owns significant stakes in PepsiCo.and Mondelez International, and has been pushing PepsiCo. to make a bid for Mondelez to expand its international snack presence. The thinking here is that Peltz, being a proactive fund manager who seeks to unlock value, could have a trick or two up his sleeve to improve DuPont's lagging share price. We'll have to wait to see if that comes to fruition.

That should help Mosaic grow its gross margin in the future even as nitrogen-centric companies like CF Industries (NYSE: CF ) and Rentech Nitrogen Partners (NYSE: RNF ) battle rising input costs. While CF's stock has lost nearly 17% in the past six months because of the recent uptick in natural gas prices, Rentech's shares plummeted 37% over the period for the same reasons. Both companies are relying on forward booking of gas prices to reduce risk.
